Mend by Ruby Grace: Dashing Logo Design!

My friend Natasha Smith started her own company a few months back and has been warming the hearts of adults and kids alike with her uniquely hand crafted dolls, blankets, and accessories.  There is no limit to her creativity and I enjoyed this project thoroughly. Feel free to check her out at the link below and if you don't purchase anything for yourself - pass this note along and follow her by liking her on Facebook.  Enjoy!

Obssesed with Yelp...

Recently I've been addicted to reviewing restaurants and places I've been on Yelp.  I've always been a big fan of great service and having worked in various industries I believe I know what providing excellent customer service is all about. No matter where you go you'll always encounter the good, the bad, and the ugly, when it comes to services rendered and Yelp is a great way for people to praise or vent about their personal experiences for a specific location visited.  I know that whenever I want to check a new place out I always go on Yelp to see what people had to say so that I'm prepared and know what to expect when visiting a new location.

I think that everyone should go out and have their own record created based off of first-time knowledge and experience but it helps to know what people have to say.  I have an opinion and I'd like to think it counts for something.  Check me out on Yelp.

World Traveler

I'm back!  I got the chance to travel to Europe for a month and it was an eye-opening experience.  I was able to visit family and friends in England, Scotland, Wales, and I spent New years in Paris!  What a great way to bring in the new year.  I've gained a lot of insight to incorporate into my design work and you should expect to see a lot more work in these next coming months.  I wish everyone a happy 2010 and remember to check in frequently to see some new work.

Here are a few photos from my trip...

SFNEWTECH

I recently had the opportunity to attend a great event called SFNEWTECH at Mighty in San Francisco. This night club hosted a space in which new start-up companies could come and network with each other in order to develop contacts and work together to create a new generation of technology. I am excited about a company called YourVersion. If you check out www.yourversion.com you can access a list of real time happenings based off of the interests you chose. For example... if I wanted to know all of the latest news about the iPhone and maybe Honda's vehicles, I can list those as my interests and every update will show the latest news on those specific choices. This site includes News, Twitters, Blogs, Webpages, Products, and Videos all relating to your specific categories. A one-stop shop! Check it out at www.sfnewtech.com. They host meetings once a month.

Romplr is born!

The company I currently work for (Moderati, Inc.) has just completed the first couple versions of a new iPhone application called Romplr. They just released a dance version as well as an artist specific version for - Soulja Boy Tell 'Em. I was part of the design team that helped make this application happen by creating banners for Soulja Boy's website along with icons for facebook and iTunes marketing. "Mini" Kurhan is a senior designer at Moderati, Inc. who came up with the style and look of the Soulja Boy Tell 'Em application but there will be more to come. I have been working under Mini as the second of only two designers for the company, and plan on releasing my own designed Romplr's in the next coming months so be sure to check back for more info. here are two recent reviews of our work.

I graduated!

The time has finally come. Yep, you guessed it... GRADUATION!!! As of June 19th, 2009 I am officially an Alumni of The Art Institute of California–San Francisco. It has been a long ride, and I am thankful for all of the faculty and friends that have helped me succeed along the way.

The Portfolio show was a success and I soon found out at the actual ceremony that I won Best Portfolio! There was a lot of amazing talent coming out of my school, so I am proud to accept that honor. Time to get back to the grind and figure out the next steps on this journey called life. Until next time.
